Thank you for contacting Fertile Hope. Fertile Hope is a LIVESTRONG initiative dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility.

KIDSCOPE's mission is to help children and families understand the effects of cancer or chemotherapy on a loved one, to provide suggestions for coping, and to develop innovative programs and materials that communicate a message of hope to diverse families coping with this crisis. The name, KIDSCOPE, can be read as Kids Cope; one of our goals is to help children successfully cope with the diagnosis and treatment of a parent with cancer. Read another way- Kid Scope, our name suggests our additional goal of understanding a parent's cancer from a child's point of view. Children have a unique perspective that changes with each developmental stage. The impact of a parent's cancer on a three-year-old child is quite different from the likely effect on a thirteen-year-old. It is our hope that by bringing families some basic information about what to expect, we will improve the quality of life for any family dealing with the trauma of cancer diagnosis and the challenges treatment.

Kids Konnected was developed on the premise that when a parent gets cancer, the entire family is affected and the needs of the children must be addressed. Our programs started in California and soon spread nationwide. We were originally known as the Komen Kids, Kids Konnected grew quickly and was granted a 501c3 non-profit corporation status in 1997. Kids Konnected became it's own non-profit corporation to better facilitate growth. Jon says, "The success of a program lies in the tears of a child being wiped away by a caring friend and in the quiet 'Thanks' of a sick parent that can worry less about the emotional stress their illness has on their children." Kids helping Kids is what we're all about. Because of our "Konnection" you don't have to be alone anymore.

Welcome to Planet Cancer, a community of young adults with cancer. It's a place to share insights, explore our fears, laugh, or even give the finger to cancer with others who just plain get it. We don't deny the dark side of illness and death here. But we also firmly believe that laughter and light can turn up in the strangest places. Planet Cancer was founded by young adults in their twenties; either in the midst of or barely out of treatment for cancer. Not only had they endured the incredible indignity of a cancer diagnosis in what should have been the best years of health, they had also all suffered from an immense void in services and support for young cancer patients. The majority of the other patients they encountered were separated by mental, emotional and physical lifetimes. As young adults with cancer, they felt that they had fallen through the cracks, and they wanted to reach out to others having the same experience.

A leading voice in the young adult cancer movement, we are working at a grassroots level to support, educate, connect and empower young adult cancer survivors. We enhance lives by supporting, educating and connecting young adults, and their loved ones, affected by cancer. We envision a world in which all young adults affected by cancer will have the access to resources necessary to thrive.
