Oncology Counselor Ms. Liebman has written two grants to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and each was accepted. One was to fund a support program called Couples Creating a Supportive Response to Breast Cancer. This program offered newly diagnosed women with breast cancer and their spouses an eight week psycho-educational support program. The program was led by Patty and a licensed male therapist. The other grant funded the publishing of a workbook co-authored by Ms. Liebman and Ms. Debra Hansen. It was an interactive coloring and response book to encourage a child's understanding of their mother's diagnosis of breast cancer and an avenue to communicate their concerns and feelings. Ms. Liebman was also involved in the inception of the Breast Cancer Survivor Newsletter. She has written many columns on topics pertinent to the breast cancer diagnosis and treatments. |
